April is the perfect time to give the inside and outside of your home a bit of a refresh. Check out this month’s top to-dos.
Amp up your curb appeal.
The outside of your home offers that all-important first impression. Step back and examine what could use some work on your home’s exterior. Are your house numbers visible? Is there a clear, groomed pathway to the door? Has siding experienced some wear and tear over the winter months? Take some time to give your exterior a bit of TLC.
Window washing.
We know this doesn’t sound like the most exciting of tasks, but you’d be surprised the difference clean windows can make for not only appearance, but also letting natural light shine through. Windows can take a beating during the winter months from sleet and grime. Give the inside and outside of each window a good scrub.
Purge.
Yup, it’s on this month’s list as well. The changing of seasons is the perfect time to go through closets, cabinets and any other storage compartments and get rid of anything that’s just taking up space. Clearing out clutter means more room for all of those fabulous spring finds!
Deck maintenance.
How did your deck hold up this past winter? Check for loose boards and nails and wobbly railings. Take care of these minor tweaks now to avoid a costly repair in the future. Perhaps all your deck needs is a fresh coat of paint or seal.
Clean gutters and downspouts.
Whether you take care of it yourself, or hire an expert, make sure to clean, and if necessary repair, your gutters and downspouts. Gutters can become clogged quickly from debris and grime. Make sure moisture is always able to flow freely to avoid any flooding.
Prune trees and shrubs away from your home.
Out of control branches that hit your roof or siding can cause serious damage if not maintained. Trim any stray branches to ensure nothing is hitting your home’s exterior.
Landscaping plan.
If you’ve got a green thumb, then you’ve been anxiously awaiting the spring season. Do you have big plans for your outdoor oasis? Now’s the time to start planning any new additions you’ll be adding to your gardens this year.
Happy April!
